Maui held the last showdown of an intense PWA World Tour season. The traditional event was making a return in 2019 after missing the 2018 calendar to act as this year's Wave ranking-decider, with very little margins between the athletes fighting for Top 10 spots. Marc Paré crossed the pond sitting in a well-deserved 9th place, secured after phenomenal performances in the previous events where he scored a 6th, 9th and a 7th.

Maui was standing once again as a massive challenge for Paré, who was set to retain his place in the world ranking while expecting to deliver a proper performance in what is considered one of the most demanding spots worldwide. In the opening heat Paré faced France's Martin and America's Schettewi and Metcalf-Perez, from this group of four, only the two best scores of the heat were advancing to the second round. Paré struggled to find his pace and dropped to the Double after getting the 3rd punctuation of the heat.

With the Single Elimination already featuring pretty low wind conditions, and with no improvements for the Double, sailors were released for the rest of the event. That meant the final results of the event were the ones left by the Single, which left Paré in 17th place.

Although Paré wasn't able to put together another Top10 finish, which would have made four out of four this year, his 17th was enough to remain in 9th place of the 2019 Wave Ranking, cracking the overall Top10 for the first time in his career to put a great end to an impressive 2019 campaign. After two seasons missing the Top10 by just one spot, was 11th in 2017 and 2018, the Catalan youngster finally enters the selected group of 10 athletes considered the best international windsurfers. This achievement makes Paré even hungrier to train harder and make new steps forward the upcoming season.

Marc Paré: "17th place for me at the 2019 Mercedez Benz Maui Aloha Classic. Not the result I was looking for, but it makes me more excited and hungry to improve in this tricky spot! Feels good to finally finish the season with a 9th place! Now time to get back to training. I would like to say a big thank you to my sponsors and my family for sticking with me throughout another great season".
